American Cancer Society Making Strides Breakfast

Giving Back....TPOS founder (Karla Brown) attends the American Cancer Society's Making Strides breakfast to kick off the annual campaign to raise funds.  TPOS will be collaborating with SE LOVe Fellowship Church to help raise proceeds for this much needed event.  The walk  which will take place Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Reliant Complex is an opportunity for everyone to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people they have lost, and raise funds and awareness to help eliminate the disease.

Academic Support Program

The 2013-14 academic year marks our 2nd year of programming. The year has been filled with great opportunities and we made great strides at surpassing our impact goals. We targeted local students in the Houston and surrounding areas, and are on track to reach nearly 1,000 students by the end of 2014. Check out the photo gallery to get a glimpse into our Academic Support Program utilizing our mobile technology lab which was made possible by the United Way's Community Building Grant ( Awarded December 2013).

CITY OF HOUSTON MAKE SAFE SATURDAY

Houston Mayor Annise Parker launched Make Safe Saturday, a new quarterly neighborhood cleanup initiative.  The citywide initiative targeted blighted properties that are in violation of City codes but do not meet the criteria for demolition.  These are properties for which owners have been cited for nuisance violations and have failed to correct the problems.

To kick off the initiative, City crews and neighborhood volunteers cleaned up 8 blighted properties in the 5100 block of Mallow Street in Sunnyside on Saturday, March 2, 2013.  TPOS founder Dr. Karla Brown and board member Margaret Jenkins participated in the event.
